How I Overcame My Sweating Problems

by Jeff on April 28, 2010

Living with my sweating problems over the years has given me a lot of insight into this condition that I hope to share with anybody willing to listen to me today. If you’ve been reading other posts of mine before this, then you already know that I have had this condition since around the time of me entering 6th grade. I have learned a lot about all of the different things that can make this condition worse as well as what you can do to help make it better. If you are looking for a good amount of insight from somebody who has dealt with this problem for a good number of years, then I’m your guy!

First of all, I feel compelled to say that everybody I meet that wants to stop sweat from being overproduced in their body is on a huge crusade to try all of these crazy “cures” right off of the bat. All I have to say is that if you suspect, or even if you KNOW, that you have this kind of problem then your first course of action needs to be visiting your doctor. Most people are terribly embarrassed to do this, but guess what? Your doctor has only seen hundreds to thousands of similar cases, many much worse then yours and they aren’t in a position to hold a judgment against you. Sometimes we make our fears into excuses to prevent us from seeking and gaining the help we need only to keep us inside of a comfort zone – if you have a sweating problem and you know it, begin by visiting your doctor.

It took me a long time to realize this and by visiting my doctor I learned about what the nature and the name of the condition was. Once my problem had a name attached to it and I could begin researching it, I began to accept it more and I felt more empowered rather then dis-empowered by what my body was doing. I can tell you that just knowing that helped to reduce a lot of what I came to call anxiety sweating, or sweating as a result of being nervous or very anxious. Just knowing or expecting that I would sweat profusely was usually enough to trigger this condition for me.

Since my condition was specifically effecting my armpit area, I wanted nothing more personally then to stop armpit sweating as soon as possible. My doctor put me on some heavy-duty versions of prescription deodorants that you can’t buy in a store, however, unfortunately enough they didn’t do that much to help my condition since it was definitely classified as being on the “severe” side of the spectrum. Still, I wanted nothing more then to stop my overactive sweat glands from producing too much perspiration so I started looking for more alternative solutions.

Everybody wants to stop sweating naturally, but truthfully, there is no “magic bullet” or cure for sweating that is going to just make it all go away. These types of conditions are difficult to treat in the first place; I have noticed one thing over the years that has effected my condition more so then any other factor and yes, you guessed it, it was none other then my diet.

Once I started to eliminate all of the junk and the garbage out of my diet and started eating more organic and whole foods I noticed an IMMEDIATE improvement. I would say that I went from being in the severe category to maybe going down to a slightly moderate case – as long as I kept my anxiety under control I was fine.

For me, the causes of sweating that I found myself to be predisposed to or things that could aggravate my condition were definitely diet and stress. Once I began to fix these things and bring them under my control, my sweating problems definitely improved dramatically.
